3 pages, folds, vg. Henry and Horace G. were the sons of Horace Canfield (1803-1853), a noted printer of several Ohio newspapers, including Akron, Ohio's AMERICAN DEMOCRAT. Horace G. followed his father in the printing trade, and Henry was an engraver. In his letter, Henry describes a trip from Akron to New York City where he was employed, recounting visits he made along the way, family news, his health, etc. Horace G. and another brother, Thomas, printed Bierce's HISTORICAL REMINISCENCES OF SUMMIT COUNTY in 1863, the county's first history.
