393 and 106p supplement, pictorial cloth, illustrated, wear to edges, paper browning, good. First edition. Howes. USIANA M-144. Wright. American Fiction 1876-1900. No. 3529. The text ends on page 393 (marked "finis"), page 394 is blank, then follows the title page of McKnight's OUR WESTERN BORDER dated 1880, and 106p of extracts from OUR WESTERN BORDER, bearing page numbers from this book ending on page 442 rather than continuing the pagination of the Girty books. This situation has led to Howes and Ernest Wesson listing the book as having 442 pages while Wright cites 393p. Bob Hayman in catalog 52, item 403 points out this situation. Wesson commented on the book: "Though not as important, it is actually rarer than C. W. Butterfield's work; nor can the book be ignored by students of the Girty Brothers, for the author was an authority in the field, and claims to have based the romance upon original research"
